Second Half

Lakers started off the second half with a solid victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-85. Lakers put together a nice game on both ends of the floor to win this one. Player of the game has to be the Mamba!! Playing with a broken nose and a concussion! Scored 31 points as old announcer Joel Myers would say AMAZING!! Bynum had 13 and 13 and had a new career high in double doubles in a season. Gasol finished with 15 points. But what the Lakers have prided themselves on all year is their defense! And it came through again tonight. Lakers pulled away in the 3rd quarter outscoring Minnesota 33-15. 30 points for the bench tonight which is way more than usual. Considering they came in while the Lakers were up by 20+ had a big reason to do with it but anyways it's a good confident booster for the streaky bench corps for the Lake Show. All in all a good solid win with nothing but positives to take away from it. Next game is Friday night. Lakers vs. Queens! Goodnight Laker fans!

I'm back with a Lakers Victory!

Sorry for being gone the past couple of games, been busy with homework and what not. But excited to be back with a Lakers victory! They started off strong and faded at the end but still held on to a double digit win. Kobe like always led the Lake Show in scoring with 28 points. Gasol had 16 and Bynum had 14 to round out the big 3. What I liked about Kobe's performance early was him passing the ball around. I believe that's why they were able to get that 29-7 first quarter lead was cause Bryant passed up on some shots and passed it to the open guy. The Lakers definitely played more like a team tonight for the first time in a couple of games. Looks like they were rallying behind Pau Gasol who is yet again in the midst of trade rumors.
A big part of the game for me was the play of Steve Blake. Had 17 big points off the bench tonight and was another reason why the Lakers won this game. He was also 5-6 from beyond the arc which was huge because the Lakers has a team don't shoot very well from 3's. The defense kind of faded down the stretch but the Lakers still held on anyway. At one point in the game the lead was 30 for the Lake Show. All and all nothing but positives to take from this game. After a bad loss on the road to the Suns the Lakers came home and took care of business on Portland who is contending for the last spot in the west. Next Laker game is Wednesday at Dallas. Peace Laker fans!

What a game!

Finally get a chance to write something positive in this thing! Seems like it's been forever. The Lake Show finally played well the whole game and down to the last buzzer. Clutch clutch block at the end by Pau Gasol! Another big game by the big 3! Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol with 27, 16, and 25 respectively. Bynum had a huge game with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Bynum had a huge game on the glass with those boards.
The most important part of the game for the Lakers was their ability to not give up! The Lakers really didn't get the lead outright until the 3rd quarter when they went up by 4-5 points. But like always that could not last forever. With the celtics up by a deuce Pau Gasol came up with the huge game saving tip in with 9 seconds left in regulation; and then they played great defense and put it into overtime. But the biggest play of the game was made by the Spaniard Pau Gasol. When Pierce missed the open 18 footer Ray Allen got the rebound off the miss and went for the game winning put back with time expired but Gasol blocked that attempt sealing the victory. Just a hard played game all around and big and much needed win for the Lake Show! After losing some tough games the last week or so this was a must win big game for them! The bench was pretty much not there again at it hasn't been forever. Matt Barnes was the leading scorer on the bench with 11 points. Standout rookie Andrew Goudelock did not have a point in 8 minutes. Steve Blake's return definitely had a factor on his playing time tonight. But as we all know a win keeps these things in the shadows.
Let's look to see if the Lakers can continue their winning ways tomorrow night as the 6 game road trip is almost over. Big game against the knicks tomorrow! Goodnight Laker fans and enjoy this win!

Threw it away

The title says it all. Lakers should have won another game that they threw away. Overshadowed i this contest was that Kobe became 5th on the all time scoring list passing his former teammate Shaq. Kobe came out of the gates firing on all cylinders scoring 15 points in the first quarter and having 24 by the half.  But Kobe only finished with 28 points. Lakers ranked near the bottom of the league in 3rd quarter scoring (Credit Jacob Shackelford) Lakers only scored 19 points and lost the lead they had at the half. It's been a theme this year for the Lakers, lead at the half and then lose it in the last quarter. As always here is the stats breakdown. Kobe lead all scorers with 28 points. Pau had 16 and Bynum had 20 to round out the "real" big 3.
Story of the year and probably the season for the Lakers has been bench scoring. Young Andrew Goudelock led the team with 9 this game. I don't know about you guys but I miss the good ole days of the bench mob scoring 30-40 points a game with Farmer, Vujacic, and Lamar. Safe to say the Lakers still need to find a way to trade for a point guard or just someone that can pick up some of the scoring slack. Overall I'm very disappointed with this loss. Too many opportunities not tajen and the Lakers lose another one. They should be 3-0 on this road trip but instead they fall to 1-2.

Refs??

WOW! All I have to say is how are these refs in business? Probably one of the worst officiated games i've seen. Every call the refs could of blown against the Lakers they seemed to miss. Countless times Kobe and Pau got hacked and nothing was called. Lakers really should've won that game if it was officiated fairly.
If it even matters heres the stats: Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol had 26,21, and 24 respectively. Kobe really had a good game too bad it was overshadowed by the awful refs. Bynum again had a really strong game and the three were the only positive out of the game tonight. Not too much bench help tonight, barely any actually with Barnes 5 points the most of any bench player in the game. I still wonder whats wrong with Metta World Peace. It seems like he averages like 2 points a game these days. He is a big part of the offense that just doesn't seem to be there which is really sad. But nonetheless the season is still not even half way over so positive thoughts Laker fans!

Halftime Report

Kobe's tenacity has the Lakers up at the half! Lakers played determined with Kobe, Pau, and Andrew all in double digits scoring wise at the half. Couple mistakes on defense like last night though. Still giving up some easy buckets on the defensive end. Gotta keep getting back in transition and playing hard defensive on the Jazz big men.
Kobe has 1 technical already so he has to watch that in the second half. The refs have been let him get beat up down low so he'll have to deal with that. Bynum playing real well early! Showing off that he's an allstar. Look for the Lakers to keep the scoring up in the second half. Lets hope for another win Laker fans!

Ugly but a win

Wow! What a crazy game! Lakers come out of that game with a win nonetheless but it was definitely an ugly one! Horrible calls down the stretch by the refs against the Lakers in my opinion but thats what you'd expect playing in a hostile arena in Denver. Some stats on the game, Kobe ended up with 20 points shooting 7-23 from the field which isn't great but he's been taking tons of shots all year so that is nothing new. Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol had 22 and 13 points respectively. Bynum had the best game in my opinion he went 10-13 from the field.
Back to those bad calls I was talking about. Lots of call seemed to go against the Lakers tonight. Whether it was Kobe's push out of bounds by Afflalo at the end or Bynum not getting the foul call with seconds left there were many blown calls in my opinion. But you know the refs in the NBA will always make those shady calls sometimes so you got to overcome those and the Lakers did.
Two big keys that the Lakers didn't do so well was turnovers and getting back on defense. There was way too many turnovers from the Lakers then I like to see. Their getting back on defense was absolutely horrible. Way to many times they gave up easy layups or easy buckets down at the other end which was hard to watch but hopefully they'll tighten that up for their game tomorrow in Utah. Will post more tomorrow after the Lakers vs Jazz game. Peace Laker fans!

First Post

Looking forward to starting this blog during the next Lakers game. Will be posting after each game, sometimes after some of the quarters depending on if there is something that comes up during the game that I think is an important topic.
